After training Karate for 14 years and obtaining his 2nd Dan, 28year old Sachin Kistasamy decided that it was time for a change. He moved from semi contact into a full contact form of martial arts. He joined the Shun Wu Tang Martial Arts Academy along with his younger sister Ilesha in May 2006 and hasn’t looked back since.
Today he is one of the prized students in his Durban school, obtaining his third degree black belt in Taiwan in March 2015. His younger sister Ilesha, obtained her first degree black belt at the age of 11, making her the youngest female, in the system, to obtain a black belt.
Since then, his flair and dedication to Martial Arts has persuaded a number of students to join the school, including his wife, Ashmika Singh, who has also obtained her first degree black belt.
He obtained third place the South African Kuoshu Champs for full contact fighting. Sachin was selected to partake in the King Of Sanda Tournament along with his instructor Shifu Kody Chetty and his training partner Kumeshan Ramaloo.
Sachin believes that being a good martial artist does not just mean being a strong fighter. He believes that it’s more about dedication, discipline and mind set.
